What is HUMAN+? It studies 3 main questions: 1) What it means to be human? 2) What is the best in human? 3) What is the worst in human? HUMAN+ understands the diversity of people's experiences & thoughts in shaping their answers towards these questions. How does HUMAN+ relate to people & performance? We argue that for people to perform at their best, they have to look, within themselves, at their strengths ("pluses"). What else that we know best but to be human?

Last week was the Singapore League of AUS that also concluded the entire 2-leagues summit. For one week, I had the golden chance to host, mingle & work with students from 5 different universities across Southeast Asia: Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Mahidol University (Thailand), Airlangga University (Surabaya), Vietnam National University (Ho Chi Minh City), & Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB).
The summit was filled with informative lectures, site visits & most distinctively (as compared to the Overseas leagues) was the design thinking workshop that we had every day. It was really a useful framework for user-centric problem-solving for any innovators. I am utterly grateful for the entire AUS experience! I was very privileged to lead the Singapore delegates to the Malaysia league at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) for the 2nd Asian Undergraduate Summit (AUS) last week. Not only I gained beneficial insight on the concept of Smart City from various UTM lecturers, the interactions that we had with various developers & external parties in Iskandar Malaysia such as Forest City, Medini, Seri Austin & Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) to name a few, also provided me with practical lens on the theoretical concept. Worth mentioning is also the great time that we had with the students from UTM Faculty of Built Environment (FAB) who undoubtedly had changed my perspective on urban planning & design
I hope to see you at the Singapore league in NUS soon! 5/21/2016 0 Comments Unleash The Speaker in YouThree days were certainly insufficient for the Oral Communication Camp organised by NUS Centre for English Language Communication (CELC). The camp was filled with enriching exercises & inputs from distinguished guest trainers namely Mr Eric Feng (author of Get to The Point), Miss Kiran Kandade (Socrates Learning), Mr Lim-Yu Beng (actor) & Prof Tommy Koh (my beloved rector of Tembusu College & Singapore Ambassador-At-Large)
So much to learn with so little time we had! 5/17/2016 0 Comments Nature Weekend! This weekend's theme is re-connecting to nature. It started with "From Walden to Woodlands" sharing session on Friday at Marine Parade Public Library. It has been around 8 months since our memorable launch at Harmony Centre. In a blink, we've been working on FWTW for almost 1 & a half year, from its very first conception during IgniteFaith camp. I'm thankful to be part of such creative effort to strengthen humanity's connection to our nature & surrounding. For the next two days, I had an enriching time to re-connect with nature & friends in NUS Muslim Society's Guardians. We had nature walks along the Southern Ridges & volunteered with Waterways Watch Society (WWS) to clean up Kallang Basin while kayaking. It was an eye-opening experience to witness the amount of trash we successfully collected in mere 30 minutes.
5/12/2016 0 Comments The Art & Science of Negotiation"Negotiation is both an art & a science. It is a science because it is possible to identify the characteristics of a good negotiator. It is also possible to identify the techniques & practices in the tool kit of a good negotiator. Negotiation can be taught. Negotiation is also an art because a good negotiator should also have a high emotional intelligence & cultural intelligence. There is increasing recognition of the fact that we think both with our heads & our hearts. To succeed in a negotiation, we should aim to connect with our negotiating partner cognitively, emotionally & culturally" (Prof Tommy Koh) Tembusu College's Negotiation Workshop was the first item on my summer break schedule. Coming back for the second time as a facilitator/coach was actually a great way to recap on the things that I learnt as a participant to the same workshop in my freshmen year. It has been virtually 3 years since then. Negotiation, like other human interaction, is unique in each of its case & can become very complex. I'm recalling, as I'm writing, the Durban Climate Change Conference case that I did for my general education module (GEM2907): "Negotiating in a Complex World". So many stakeholders with their different interests & positions were involved. Such intricacy certainly requires trained negotiator with both brain & heart. I hope to be one. 5/8/2016 0 Comments Mother's Day 2016I was delighted to be the master of ceremonies of a mother's day celebration in Grand Bluewave, Shah Alam. The occasion was graced by the President of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Insaniah Srikandi Malaysia, a very humble lady whose sharing I like the most. Her sharing on the "srikandi-srikandi" (heroines) of the early Islamic period inspired & empowered not only the mothers & women present that evening, but the men including myself. A local Singapore talent, Ajib Alkaff, also performed that evening.
